Bit late posting ......late evening 😊 The first bookend was our group hosting our billet families and treating them to a pancake breakfast! Thanks to the Smollett family we had fresh maple syrup as well! Mrs. Yae, Mr. Dewsbury and I cooked up some 6 dozen pancakes and students served them on maple leaf flag plates and napkins.....and students then topped them off with maple syrup for our guests! Doesn't matter where you travel food and friendship go together!
We then left as a large group and headed by train to ToeinKyoto Studio Park. This park used to be a full working film set and movie park - now it has great displays of old sets and many attractions including a Ninja show, Samuari sword fighting, Geishas, Samuari shows, a maze, trick art museum and a haunted house. Students spends the afternoon with their host families running from attraction to attraction! We left at 4 to head back to KG for our Farewell Party. This event saw all families and our group sharing in a light supper, followed by speeches by both our schools. We were presented with a lovely plaque and framed group photo by Principal, Mr Sasai and Mrs Yae spoke on behalf of NC. The second bookend was as the evening concluded with our students dressing up in red cowboy hats and bandanas and performing and then teaching the Cadillac Ranch to everyone! Following this literally hundreds of pictures were taken as our students gave their hats and bandanas to their billet student .....................the photos tell a story of friendship, understanding and as Mr. Takemura (Shingo) said - we realize through exchange that we are all the same, living together on this planet .............can't buy these kind of experiences anywhere .......
